Paragon players will be sad to learn that the game will be shutting down later this year.
Developer Epic Games announced today that their free-to-play online battle arena game Paragon will be shutting down on April 26. Epic Games also announced that they will be offering a full refund to every Paragon player for any purchases they have made. This offer will available to players on all platforms.
“After careful consideration, and many difficult internal debates, we feel there isn’t a clear path for us to grow Paragon into a MOBA that retains enough players to be sustainable. We didn’t execute well enough to deliver on the promise of Paragon. We have failed you — despite the team’s incredibly hard work — and we’re sorry.” said Epic Games in a statement.
Epic Games revealed that while Paragon’s services won’t officially end until April 26, the company warns players that matchmaking times and quality will continue to degrade as the game’s player population decreases.
Epic Launched Paragon in March 2016 as an early access PlayStation 4 and PC. It later went into a beta program in August of that year. Since launch Epic has been supporting the title with numerous characters and a selection premium content. And while it never managed to catch on like such games as League of Legends or Heroes of the Storm it managed to build a fan-base that enjoyed the game.
Any PC Paragon players interested in requesting their refund, can do so by visiting this link. Non PC players need to either create or link their Epic Games account which can be done by visiting this link instead.
