Things are heating up for fans of the frigid society survival city-builder Frostpunk 2, as the game is set to receive a dramatic content update.
Announced via press release, Frostpunk 2: Breach of Trust takes players to the city of New Edinburgh, risen near a volcano and destabilized by the reckless use of geothermal energy to power its Generator. This new scenario takes players through a trial by fire as you struggle to overcome an erupting volcano crisis in the city of New Edinburgh. Frostpunk: Breach of Trust is set to release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on June 23rd, 2026.
With the Old Captain deposed and the city’s grounds trembling, players must take the helm as the First Citizen. However, it won’t be easy, as a periodic “Vote of Trust” will serve as a tangible check on your approval rating. And once unrest rises and volcanic ash blankets the sky, the only safe haven is a nearby colony set on a frozen lake.
Frostpunk 2: Breach of Trust features:
- A gripping story exploring the fate of New Edinburgh and its former colony, Aurora.
- Five unique Communities and Factions, each with distinct backgrounds, identities, and ideologies
- Lethal new environmental hazards, featuring the Tremors and Volcano Night mechanics
- New narrative events and new custom gameplay mechanics provide fresh challenges
- Independent Colony – navigate relations with the independent colony through peaceful trade, forceful extortion, or total conquest
- Two new scenario maps
- Five new buildings and hubs to reinforce your city’s infrastructure
- New laws
The Frostpunk 2: Breach of Trust DLC was initially teased as part of the game’s Whiteout Edition that came with a host of physical goodies, alongside access to the game’s three DLCs. The game initially launched on September 20th, 2024 for PC and was well received by critics, sitting at a 85 on Metacritic.
