Game Con Canada and NAGIS are coming to Edmonton to host days of gaming celebrations and industry deals.

Game Con Canada is a three-day celebration of games and the community behind them. Meant for all ages and backgrounds, attendees will get to play hundreds of games from video game studios and board game developers. Hosted at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, Game Con Canada will take place between June 19th and June 21st. The Friday of the event will take place between 11 am and 7 pm MDT, with the other two days between 10 am and 6 pm MDT. After-hours gaming will be hosted on the first two days of the event until 12 am.

Game Con Canada Unveils A List Of Special Guests Arriving At The Exciting Expo

There will be multiple events hosted at GCC this year. starting with a ton of tournaments for games like Warhammer 40k and Riftbound: League of Legends. Cosplay competition events that will be judged by industry professionals like Mark Meer, who did voice work for Dragon Age and the Baldur’s Gate series, and Evil Ted, who has worked on media like Titanic, Hunger Games and The Fifth Element as a prop maker, model maker and other things along his 30-year career. These judges and more will preside over a ten-thousand-dollar prize pool.

Aside from those events, there are also guided TTRPG adventures, both free and paid, with community celebrities leading them. Perhaps the coolest of the events listed is the Coin Quest, where attendees will have to use their wits and social media to find 14 coins guarded by coin bearers across the con in an effort to win a $4000 prize pack. A 130-foot-long, 24-foot-tall, 9K LED MEGA-stage will host the biggest moments of the weekend, like AAA games and is the host of the aforementioned cosplay competition.

It is also CGMagazine’s honour to announce that we will be hosting the official 3rd annual Game Con Canada Indie Game Awards on the MEGA stage.

There is a whole list of special guests attending GCC, including Deborah Ann Woll, YDB, Ginny Di, and Noura Ibrahim. Although you can only see these guests if you have a ticket. Day passes for an adult will cost 47.25, with the price gradually decreasing as the attendee’s age decreases. For a weekend pass for an adult, it will cost $113.40, with the same age-based mechanic applying. However, these tickets are only for entry; if you want to participate in events like foam armour workshops and miniature painting, it will cost a lot extra.

Heading away from Game Con Canada, there is another event coming up, NAGIS. The North American Games Industry Summit is where studios, publishers, investors, and technology partners all come together to have pitch meetings, executive-led sessions and deal-making opportunities. We don’t know much yet, but NAGIS will take place between June 18th and 19th at the same Edmonton EXPO Centre. Student tickets will cost $100 CAD, with industry tickets costing $235 and VIP costing $350.

Quite an exciting couple of days for the gaming industry.
