The Global Game Jam organizers have annouced they expect to break their participate record for this year, as many news countries and locations have joined the jam this year.

The fifth annual Global Game Jam, a 48-hour game design marathon, will take place this weekend with over 300 locations getting ready in 60 countries to gather professional and ameurter’s  to create games based around a theme. 

The Global Game Jam will begin in New Zealand on Friday at 5 p.m. local time, then will work around the world beginning at all time zones as they hit 5 p.m. local. The event will run for the full 48-hours in each time zone, and will end with Hawaii on Sunday.

Though it seems almost like a comptetion, the jam’s purpose is to actually bring together developers to share ideas and be creative.
