Designed to boost user productivity, Google announced the Googlebook, featuring Gemini Intelligence, tools to use Android devices as a companion, and more.
Combining ChromeOS with Android technology, Google revealed its upcoming laptop, Googlebook, launching on October 4, 2026, in partnership with HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and ASUS. Alongside the Google partnership, the laptop features Gemini Intelligence to enhance users’ workflow and Android companion tools to stream and transfer their tasks to the Googlebook.
Available for pre-order, each Googlebook from HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and ASUS features different specifications and builds, including a choice between Intel and Qualcomm NPUs with up to 45 TOPS, display sizes, chassis made of premium materials, and more. - Acer – A convertible laptop that can be used traditionally or as a tablet. - Dell – As a clamshell laptop, it’s designed to be bold and flashy, with a balanced height, weight, and display. The Dell XPS Googlebook features a 13.4” 2.5K OLED touchscreen display, 500 nits of peak brightness, a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor, 16GB to 32GB RAM, 512GB+ storage, Dolby Atmos, a haptic touchpad, face auth and a fingerprint sensor, and a machined aluminum chassis. - HP – Designed as an elegant clamshell laptop. Importantly, the Googlebook brings back the Glowbar across all models, a colourful LED light strip that reacts when the laptop powers on, highlights the battery charge level, and plays animations when communicating with Gemini.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite platform is at the core of the Googlebook experience, bringing with it a range of features that help the new lineup offer something few other laptops do. Built with AI at its core, the chip pairs powerful performance with the efficiency needed for all-day battery life, backed by a dedicated NPU that drives Googlebook’s Gemini Intelligence features. Tools such as Cast my Apps, Magic Pointer and Rambler can pull relevant information from emails, calendars and on-screen content, keeping users productive without breaking their flow.

Expanding on the ASUS Googlebook 14, the laptop will be priced from $1,799 to $1,899 CAD in Canada, with most Canadian retailers adding purchase bonuses. From September 21 to October 31, 2026, purchasing at Best Buy Canada will offer Pixel Buds 2a as a gift or $280 off the Google Pixel 9a. However, until December 31, 2026, the ASUS Store will offer a one-year warranty extension, an ASUS AP1602 backpack, and an ASUS Marshmallow Mouse MD100. In addition to the ASUS Store, more retailers will offer bonuses during the same period, including a $150 gift card from Staples, a $150 promo code from Amazon, a $165 gift card from Costco, and a Logitech MX4 mouse from Canada Computers.
Alongside the specs, users with Android devices can use it as a companion to the Googlebook. After signing in during setup, users’ settings, saved passwords, Wi-Fi connections, and messages will transfer to the laptop. Additionally, the Googlebook offers tools to streamline your tasks and apps from your phone to the laptop. The tools included are:
- Continue On – Users working on a task on their Android devices while on the go can pick up from where they left off on their Googlebook taskbar.
- Files – Without needing their phone, users can use the Googlebook’s Files app to view, search, and open files and photos from their phone.
- Cast My Apps – Users can cast and interact with their Android phone apps while on the Googlebook desktop window.
To help users stay organized, the Googlebook incorporates Gemini Intelligence for day-to-day tasks. With Gemini Intelligence, users can use the Magic Pointer by wiggling their mouse cursor to bring up Gemini on the page they are on, whether to translate text, organize their calendar, or check suspicious email to verify if it’s spam. For users who often need to take notes, they can select Rambler to express their thoughts, and Gemini will turn them into an organized note with headers, a checklist, and takeaways. Lastly, users can generate custom widgets by describing what they need through Create My Widget.
Shifting to the software, users have access to the Chrome browser with extensions and millions of Android apps, many of which are optimized for the laptop. With millions of Android apps available, Google has stated that Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, CapCut, Netflix, and HBO Max will be natively supported on the laptop. Additionally, users receive a one-year NVIDIA GeForce NOW subscription with access to thousands of Android and AAA games to play during their leisure time. Lastly, developers can use Google Antigravity to build, experiment, and deploy apps, and Claude CLI and Antigravity CLI for agentic coding.
For security, Googlebook utilizes Google Titan Security to protect users’ data and detect viruses through on-device malware detection. The laptop also includes a level 5 security-certified hypervisor powered by pKVM isolation, with full terminal access in a Linux environment that lets users run Linux developer tools, access networks and ports, and more safely.
Before wrapping up, every purchase of the Googlebook includes 12 months of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage and advanced Gemini tools, a three-month YouTube Premium subscription, and a three-month subscription to Adobe Photoshop.
