The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro were shown to be one of the most personable and useful phones.
“Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro completely reimagine Google’s approach to smartphones and represent the very best of Google’s helpfulness.”
This is what senior vice president of devices and services, Rick Osterloh, said as the Pixel Fall Launch livestream presentation ended. It’s the perfect description of what the Pixels bring to the table of new technology. Here’s the breakdown of the features of the new Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro:
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro features six distinct and vibrant colours. The Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch display with 90 Hz FHD+ resolution. and the 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch display 120 HZ QHD+ resolution. The screen will be water and dust resistant. The structure of the phone is made with recycled aluminum and so will the new cases — which are also made from reusable materials. The phone is polished with Gorilla glass making the phone less prone to scratches. The protruding camera bar where the lenses sit stand out at the top of the phone. The reason for this will be explained in detail further below.
Inside the Pixel 6 & 6 Pro
The new processor is one of the first mobile data chips with Google Tensor. The presentation breaks down each part of the chip’s functions — two of the highlights being the high-performance CPU with 8 cores working in harmony, and then the security chip, Titan M2, which offers the most layers of security in any phone. The GPU is also benchmarked to be 370% faster than the Pixel 5, so gaming on the new Pixel is even better. As most new phones, they will feature wireless charging with a 24-hour battery life with adaptable settings to ensure that happens based on the user’s usage. The Pixel 6 will have 8 GB RAM and the 6 Pro will have 12 GB RAM, both offers 128 GB or 256 GB for storage.
The Pixel 6 features a dual rear camera system with 50 MP for the wide lens, 12 MP for ultrawide, and then 8 MP for the front camera. The 6 Pro is stacked with three cameras consisting of everything the Pixel 6 has plus a 48 MP telephoto lens and the 11.1 MP front camera. The camera highlights its new abilities of Magic Eraser and Real Tone. Google wanted to give users the ability to easily eliminate things in the background of photos that seem as natural as possible. As for Real Tone, this feature was created with the help of BIPOC creators and leaders who wanted to stress the importance of capturing everyone’s skin tones as they can be seen with the naked eye. This meant that darker skin-toned people shouldn’t need more lighting for the faces to appear clearly.
These are some of the main features of the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. The Pixel 6 is listed at $599 USD and the 6 Pro at $899 USD. Both of these models can now be pre-ordered in the Google Store.
