Halo Infinite's Next Update Overhauls Networking, Anti-Cheat, and More

343 Industries has announced a massive update coming to Halo Infinite, bringing a wealth of much-requested changes, the most important of which is a networking overhaul.

As announced on Halo Waypoint, the update will launch on March 19 and includes long list of changes.

“After launch, we heard the feedback around the game’s online experience loud and clear: desync, being shot around corners, etc. And while we did release numerous updates to the previous model, they were not having the impact that players expected and deserved,” reads a post from 343 “When we recognized this, the team decided to shift gears and pursue a fundamental change to the underlying networking model.”

The new networking model was introduced last December in Firefight: King of the Hill, and since then 343 has given it “extra polish” before the upcoming full launch. The studio is confident that the new model will result in a more consistent multiplayer experience

Apart from the overhaul, Easy Anti-Cheat is being added to the game, and it’s a tool that monitors player’s game files to ensure the integrity of each match. This should, hopefully, mean that 343 can crack down on the overall security of Halo Infinite, and make it easier to identify cheaters.

While those are the major highlights of the patch, there are plenty of other normal additions on the way as well. Here’s a quick look at those, while you can see full details over on Halo Waypoint.

  • Squad Battle Refresh – Seven New Maps
  • Weapons Tunin Update – Changes for M392 Bandit, Bandit Evo, Heatwave, Plasma Pistol, Stalker Rifle, VK78 Commando, and Gravity Hammer
  • Addition of Firefight Custom
  • Numerous bug fixes for Forge
  • Stability updates

Halo Infinite first launched in November 2021 with multiplayer only, while a campaign mode was added a month later. In January 2024, 343 announced that the game would move away from a seasonal model and move toward in-game events called Operations. The second season of Paramount’s Halo TV show also premiered earlier this year.

Halo Infinite is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
