Homeworld: Deserts of Kaharak Gets a Release Date and Trailer

Homeworld: Deserts of Kaharak Gets a Release Date and Trailer - 2015-12-17 12:24:31

Odds are, if you enjoyed the late 90’s strategy RPG Homeworld, you’ve been following the development of the first entry in the series in a decade. Now, you won’t have to wait much longer because Homeworld: Deserts of Kaharak by Black Bird Interactive officially has a release date of Jan. 10 2016 on Windows PC.

Made by the minds that created the original Homeworld series, this prequel takes from space to the desert planet of Kharak where the planet is dying. Humanity’s last hope possibly lies in the enemy controlled desert.

Development on this title actually started as a different game. Black Bird Interactive were originally working on a spiritual successor to their beloved franchise, but on Dec. 15th they announced the game formerly known as Hardware: Shipbreakers would be the next installment in the Homeworld series.

Along with a release date, we were gifted with a new trailer showing off some new graphics and gameplay. It actually looks pretty fun, and the map is gigantic especially for an RTS. Interestingly enough, there seems to be more ground-based action, which strays a little farther from the original series but feels right in the context.
