CES 2024: HP OMEN Pushes Gaming With Latest Hardware Lineup

HP OMEN has been a brand trusted by gamers worldwide, and for this year’s CES 2024, they are pushing their lineup with exciting new laptops and displays that blend the best of HP with the skills of HyperX.

CES is where the world’s biggest brands bring their latest and greatest to the show floor to give consumers a taste of what to expect next year and beyond. HP OMEN, known for bringing stunning PCs, laptops, displays, peripherals and accessories, is upping its game and has a number of new products that build on what they are known for while taking advantage of its new connection with HyperX, and I was lucky enough to go hands-on before the show opened.

While HP brought their updated OMEN Transcend 16 with the latest Intel Raptor Lake refresh CPUs, perhaps the most exciting thing for me during my visit to the HP showcase was the OMEN Transcend 14 Gaming Laptop, which not only looked stunning in both white and black variants but also managed to impress with its design, keyboard and hardware, making it possible to play on the go without having to compromise on performance or even weight. With Intel Core Ultra CPUs and options up to an NVIDIA RTX 4070, the OMEN Transcend 14 has all the power you need for work, content creation and gaming.

Under the hood, the OMEN Transcend 14 has everything you need to get the most out of a portable gaming laptop, including a 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED, 48-120 Hz display with 0.2 ms response time, 83.73 percent screen-to-body ratio, HP True Vision 1080p FHD IR camera, HyperX Audio Control speakers, options for up to 2TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe TLC M.2 SSD, up to 32GB of LPDDR5x-7467 MHz RAM, and perhaps the most exciting aspect, the gridless sky-painting RGB keyboard that looks absolutely stunning in person.

I had limited time with the OMEN Transcend 14, but I was shocked at how light and powerful the little laptop was, even in the early units HP had on site. I tried to quickly jump into Cyberpunk 2077 and was shocked at how smooth and responsive everything was, especially considering the size and portability of the laptop. The screen was also stunning, with the game’s visuals coming to life with a great contrast ratio, depth of colour and clarity. Of course, it’s hard to do justice to a laptop in a handful of minutes, but the OMEN Transcend 14 definitely puts its best foot forward.

Over on the monitor side of things, HP has managed to bring a gorgeous display with their OMEN Transcend 32 gaming monitor with HyperX audio tuning. HP has been known for their displays for a while now, with CGMagazine loving some of their 2023 offerings, and the OMEN Transcend 32 is looking to keep that ball rolling with an impressive display that not only features a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) QD OLED panel, they deliver in the areas that help make it a better offering for everyone.

Including features like 240Hz, 0.03ms response times, great contrast, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification, aRGB lighting, HDR with Dolby Vision and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400, along with a range of ports that give you plenty of options to connect all your tech to the monitor while providing the best possible experience. I was surprised at how much HP packed into the monitor, with a spec sheet that goes beyond what many monitors seem to bring to the table, even offering things like built-in KVM switching and USB Type-C connectivity, giving you options not normally found on gaming-focused displays.

HP OMEN Gaming Hub at CES 2024

HP also wanted to showcase the new OMEN Gaming Hub that looks to unify the many components and tech you may have from the brand. On the laptops, it gives you a clear way to look at the many aspects you can adjust on HP products, like lighting, looking system specs, and even overclocking if you happen to have one of their laptops or desktops, and most surprisingly, of all, I did not hate it while using it.

I’m not sure if it’s something that tech-savvy gamers will take advantage of, but for people who want an easy way to customize what their hardware can do, the OMEN Gaming Hub delivers where it needs to, and that’s something I never thought I’d say. Granted, I will need more time to really give my full take, but from my time with it on the hardware at the event, I am intrigued to see how it all looks in the wild.

I walked away from the HP event excited about what HP OMEN is bringing to CES, and even weeks after using the many devices, that remains the case. While I enjoyed what the brand brought to the table, this new lineup shows how they are leveraging the brands under their belt to deliver a unified experience that delivers quality and performance to the gamers who want it most. With releases like the OMEN Transcend 14, it is clear that HP is leveraging what it does best to deliver hardware that gives gamers what they want most while looking great in the process.
