A New Wireless Future?

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, LG unveiled their latest innovation in television technology: a wireless OLED TV.

This groundbreaking development allows for a sleek, minimalist design, as no wires or cables connect the TV to any external devices. One of the major advantages of OLED technology is its ability to display deep blacks and a wide colour gamut.

This results in stunning picture quality with enhanced contrast and brightness. With the implementation of wireless technology, the TV can seamlessly connect to various devices, such as smartphones, laptops, and gaming consoles, without multiple HDMI cables or external devices dangling from the back of the TV, thanks to their zero connect box.

The zero connect box that allows the Wireless OLED to work comes with three HDMI ports, all of which are 4K and 120Hz-enabled, as well as USB and antenna inputs. You can plug in your usual devices like a cable box, game console, or 4K Blu-ray player, and the content will appear on the OLED display.

LG has developed an innovative algorithm that can identify the optimal transmission path for the signal in order to minimize any interference or disruption. This amazing technology is even smart enough to recognize people or pets moving around the room and will automatically switch paths so the transmission will stay uninterrupted. The Zero Connect box also has an adjustable antenna which can be rotated or tilted to suit the TV’s location. Additionally, the LG M3 OLED also has voice control, so users can turn on the TV and manage connected devices by using spoken commands.

The LG Signature OLED M TV has a sleek and minimalist design that complements any home decor. The TV is designed to be mounted on the wall and can be hung with an ultra-thin mount that sits just millimetres away from the TV, making it look like it’s floating on the wall giving a true Wireless OLED experience.

While it may sound too good to be true, even at CES 2023, there were no issues while LG demonstrated the Wireless OLED TV in action. While taking a look at the OLED M on the CES 2023 show floor, I was genuinely impressed at how great the picture looked, even in its incredibly thin size and wireless concept. The TV supports all the usual Dolby Vision, Atmos, and other home theatre features you’d expect, and it’s also G-Sync certified for gaming. This means that you’ll have a great experience whether you’re watching movies or playing games.

While there are many questions about this new exciting TV concept, we do know the OLED M TV will be available in a 97″ 4K screen size when it finally does ship, although no information on other sizes has been released at the time of writing.

LG’s Signature OLEDs have been notoriously expensive, but the company has not yet released pricing information for the OLED M. If past CES announcements are anything to go on, the LG Signature OLED M will likely cost more than the current 8K OLED sets on the market, with most people best sticking with the wired variants, at least for now.
