It seems as though the confusion surrounding Marvel Legacy, and the rather unsuccessful year Marvel had in 2017, has resulted in another reboot for the comics giant.
Today Marvel released a short video titled Marvel Comics 2018: A Fresh Start. In the video, editor-in-chief, C.B. Cebulski, and chief creative officer, Joe Quesada, hint at and discuss the direction Marvel is heading in the coming months.
In the video, Quesada says, “If you haven’t read a comic before, if you’re an old lapse fan and you want to come back, it’s a perfect opportunity to do it, because these stories … are great jumping off points.”
Also in the video, Cebulski says that he has never seen those working at Marvel as excited as they are now.
The video states that there will be new creative teams, which will help to give major heroes, such as Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, a fresh start. This will give newer, and some older, readers a chance to join the legions of Marvel fans.
Changes to the Avengers lineup should not come as much of a surprise to fans, seeing as Cebulski is new to the role of editor-in-chief. Having recently replaced Alex Alonzo in the role, changes to the Marvel comic franchise were bound to happen.
As the video says, it’s a “fresh start” for Marvel.
