Milla Jovovich Joins the Cast for Hellboy Reboot

It looks like Milla Jovovich will be in the new Hellboy movie.

Deadline reported today that Resident Evil and Fifth Element star Milla Jovovich has joined the cast for the upcoming Hellboy reboot, playing the role of the Blood Queen. The role will pit her against David Harbour from Stranger Things, who will be starring in the new film as the titular Hellboy.

The new Hellboy film was announced earlier this year by series creator Mike Mignola The new movie will be R-rated, being directed by Neil Marshall. The original name for the film was Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, indicating that Jovovich’s role in the movie will likely be a big one. Aron Coleite is currently rewriting the movie’s plot, based on a first draft done by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mike Mignola. There is currently no planned release date for the Hellboy reboot film.

In the original comics, the Queen of Blood also goes by the name Nimue, a witch from the Arthurian times who became known as the Lady of the Lake. The Queen of Blood plays a major role in the Hellboy mythology, serving as a growing threat over the course of multiple arcs in the series.

Milla Jovovich is best known for her work in the realm of science fiction and action films. She starred in the 1997 film, The Fifth Element, alongside Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman. One of the roles Jovovich is best known for is her starring role in Resident Evil. Loosely based on the video game series of the same name, Resident Evil follows a group of Umbrella Corporation commandos as they combat against the T-virus outbreak. While the movie was negatively received by critics, it was a commercial success. Five sequels were created with Milla Jovovich reprising her role in each.
