Due to the PSN outage, Capcom announced the Monster Hunter Wilds beta will be extended to new dates this week.
Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) received one of its biggest outages, and users were not very happy about it this weekend. The saddest part was that the Monster Hunter Wilds beta was supposed to run through this past weekend. Luckily, Capcom announced they will be reopening the beta for a new window: Thursday, February 13 to Monday, February 17. Monster Hunter fans can now breathe easy knowing they will still have a chance to play the beta for one of 2025’s most anticipated games.
PSN went down around 3:00 PM ET on Friday, February 7, and did not get back up until around 24 hours later. The main issue was that gamers were unable to play their games online, and even access single-player games that required authentication with a server or a constant internet connection. Sony subsequently issued a statement indicating that its network services experienced an “operational issue.” For the users’ consolation, Sony gave all PlayStation Plus members an additional five days of service. Still, players are demanding a full explanation of what caused the outage.
It was unfortunate that the Monster Hunter Wilds‘ second big beta was supposed to run through the weekend, from Thursday, February 6 to Sunday, February 9. But now, Capcom assured beta participants will be able to get another chance to play the beta. Players can still earn participation bonuses during the extended period in the full version of the game, according to Capcom. Some players were still able to fight the new foe called Arkveld before the outage.

CGMagazine’s Justin Wood mentioned in the hands-off preview that this will be the fastest-running open-world concept in the Monster Hunter franchise. He noted, “In Monster Hunter Wilds, it’s all open. There is no loading between the town and the hunting area. This means you can take on a hunt and go right to it with no more downtime between.”
Cross-platform multiplayer is available in both tests, allowing players to transfer their characters (not their progress) to the full game upon purchase. Participants also get a bonus pendant and an item pass that will unlock in the full release. Additionally, Monster Hunter World and Iceborne owners will receive Palico equipment and a Hunter Profile name plate if they pick up Wilds. This is why Capcom and the Monster Hunter team are so great!
Monster Hunter Wilds is expected to release later this month on February 28, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam (PC).
