Moon Studios Declares Independence, No Rest For the Wicked Will Finish Without Take-Two

Moon Studios is taking full control of No Rest for the Wicked, officially breaking free from Take-Two’s involvement and declaring full independence.

Take-Two sold Private Division back in November 2024, removing the publisher and its catalogue from Take-Two’s wide-reaching banner. At the time, Take-Two kept its hooks into the just released early access title, No Rest For The Wicked, which only had just hit the market on Steam in April 2024.

With plans to continue supporting No Rest for the Wicked, Take-Two sold off the remainder of Private Division. CEO Strauss Zelnick told Variety, “Take-Two continues to support No Rest for the Wicked, which launched in April in early access. Importantly, we’re grateful for the contributions that the Private Division team made to Take-Two, and we’re confident that they’ll continue to achieve success,” regarding the future of Moon Studios’ third title, which was in development at the time.

Today, the narrative has shifted as Moon Studios has officially declared independence, stating, “We have secured the publishing rights for No Rest for the Wicked, allowing us to execute our vision without restrictions.” The announcement was made in the latest Wicked Inside Showcase 2, posted to the official Moon Studios YouTube channel, and can be viewed in full below.

Aside from its declaration of independence, Moon Studios has also revealed the next major update for No Rest for the Wicked, The Breach, during Wicked Inside Showcase 2.

The Breach promises to expand the game’s campaign with new areas, armour, factions, enemies and, of course, weapons. The update will also “deepen the game’s lore,” effectively doubling the size of the game world. After The Breach update goes live on April 30, Moon Studios’ next priority will be implementing a co-op mode for up to four players and further integrating a new musical score composed by renowned Ori series composer Gareth Coker.

No Rest for the Wicked remains in Early Access, and fans can dive in on Steam today.
