Uncertainty Surrounds the Popular Anime Series

Netflix Anime Zom 100 on Indefinite Hiatus After Delays

The popular zombie comedy anime Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead has been put on an indefinite hiatus starting with episode 10, leaving fans disappointed and concerned.

Currently streaming on Netflix, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead is a series written by Haro Aso and Kotaro Takata that first aired in July 2022. It quickly gained a dedicated fan base with its unique blend of comedy, horror, and slice-of-life in a zombie apocalypse setting.

The anime follows an office worker named Akira who decides to live life to the fullest after he wakes up to discover his town overrun by zombies. While he lived as if he was sleepwalking through his gruelling office job, the app apocalypse finally gave him the push he needed to live his life to the fullest.

While it starts off strong and is filled with some truly insane moments, the series has faced numerous delays, starting with episode 4. Episodes 4 through 9 have been delayed up to a week, disrupting the flow for viewers. Now, with the announcement that the remaining three episodes have been delayed indefinitely, fans are worried that this could be the end of the series.

The 10th episode, titled Hometown of the Dead, was initially expected to be released next week but has now been put on hold. The official Twitter account of Crunchyroll France announced the indefinite hiatus, stating that episodes 10-12 would be released in Japan and on streaming platforms at an unspecified date.

The reason for the hiatus has not been officially announced, but it seems to be due to ongoing production issues. Creating high-quality animation on a weekly schedule can be demanding, and Zom 100 may have bitten off more than it could chew. Combined with scheduling conflicts for the Japanese broadcast, these factors likely made the delays unavoidable.

With no set return date, the future is uncertain. Some optimistic fans hope that once the production problems are resolved, Zom 100 will return to finish Akira’s story. Others worry that the momentum will be lost after such a long break, especially with popular new anime premiering in the fall season.

For now, fans will have to make do with the first nine episodes. While a hiatus is disappointing, Zom 100 has proven its charm with unique characters, hilarious situational comedy, and just the right amount of zombie action. Here’s hoping the show rises from the dead soon to give viewers the satisfying conclusion they deserve.
