Turtle Beach and ROCCAT announced they will be supporting UCSD’s esports team with top-of-the-line equipment and a UCSD scholarship.
Turtle Beach, ROCCAT, UCSD Esports and UCSD Recreation came to an agreement which comes down to supporting students and their abilities to perform to the best of their abilities by using the best equipment.
In addition to the upgrade of gaming provisions, Turtle Beach and ROCCAT are providing financial help towards the UCSD scholarship program for gaming students involved with the esports scene. They hope this can alleviate the worry about finances for student esports athletes with their academics, and gaming commitments.
Turtle Beach and ROCCAT hope their support of UCSD’s scholarship program will help the gaming community in and around campus to thrive and encourage more players to rise to the competitive stage as best they can.
“Like UC San Diego, Turtle Beach is driven to foster an inclusive gaming culture, and we do that by supporting industry and local community leaders who cultivate spaces that bolster the gaming community and allow all gamers to compete at their highest levels,”, said Chairman and CEO of Turtle Beach Corporation, Juergen Stark.
UCSD Esports and Recreation are thrilled to have Turtle Beach and ROCCAT as generous backers, and the timing couldn’t be any better for the school.
The Director of UCSD Recreation, Rich Mylin, shared their thoughts about the timing of the partnership and the opening of their new building, the Triton Esports Center (TEC). “Furthermore, the investment they have made in creating scholarship opportunities for students will have a tremendous impact well beyond today.”
The Triton Esports Center pushes the growth of UCSD’s gaming community known as Triton Gaming, which connects the students/gamers across campus through social media, its own Twitch channel and Discord channel.
UCSD Esports consists of seven esports teams for each respective games: League of Legends, Overwatch, Starcraft II, Valorant, Splatoon 2, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
That’s plenty of teams getting some cutting-edge gaming equipment to allow the UCSD Esports teams to stay ahead of the competition, and provide many students with the opportunity to take advantage of the UCSD scholarship.
There are high hopes this collaboration between Turtle Beach, ROCCAT and UCSD Esports will only go up from here as the campus gaming community continues to flourish.
