No Man's Sky Coming to XBOX One Alongside Substantial Update 1

No Man’s Sky is making its descent onto XBox One and XBox One X consoles in the near future.

Hello Games announced the news in a press release on Microsoft’s XBox Wire along with a tease for the game’s new update. While not much information has been given about the update, entitled ‘Next’ the team calls it “our biggest update so far, and something we’ve been working ridiculously hard on.” The update is set to hit XBox, PlayStation and PC at some point this summer and be completely free.

‘Next’ is the fourth free content update to come to No Man’s Sky since the game launched back in August of 2015. The first three updates, named ‘Foundation’, ‘Pathfinder’, and ‘Atlas Rises’ brought with them a number of new features including base building, freighter ownership, survival mode, vehicles, a new procedural mission system as well as a visual upgrade.

As for the actual core game, No Man’s Sky is an adventure/exploration game that has you foraging around different planets and interacting with the various wildlife that exists. The worlds are all procedurally generated and feature a bevvy of unique environments and upgrade abilities.

The game originally launched on PlayStation 4 and PC and has had a bit of a rough journey since then as No Man’s Sky failed to live up to its own ambition and hype. It currently sits at a critics score of 71 on review aggregate site Metacritic, but it has a much lower 4.5 user rating.
