Late Tuesday evening news broke that Official Playstation Magazine would be ceasing publication after its Holiday 2012 issue.
Future Publishing, the owner behind OPM, confirmed that the magazine will be shutting its doors at the end of 2012, in a statement released on Kotaku.
Earlier this year Future Publishing also shuttered Nintendo Power after a falling out over the re-licensing of the Nintendo brand. No reason has been stated so far for the closure of OPM.
OPM has been in publication since 1997, at which point it was titled Official US PlayStation Magazine. Its September 2012 issue marked its 15th year of publication. OPM’s European counterpart, PSM3, also operated by Future, will continue to run.
