OnePlus revealed their new flagship smartphone this morning, the OnePlus 8T, packed with a host of improvements — including a new Quad Camera system and their fastest charging technology to date.

The OnePlus 8T features Warp Charge 65, a new twin-battery charging technology. The 8T’s utilizes two 2250mAh series connected batteries which can fully charge in 39 minutes, with its included 65W USB-C charger. A series of 12 temperature sensors (plus one in the cable and adapter) ensure that charging is conducted at a safe temperature.

OnePlus’ new Quad-Camera system makes studio-level photography possible with a simple click, using four distinct lens: a 123-degree ultra wide angle lens, a 48MP main camera, and dedicated macro and monochrome lenses. AI algorithms enhance results in low-light conditions and the improved Nightscape mode. And thanks to new video stabilization software and detection AI, users can take Video Portraits with a natural bokeh effect.

Camera operations are only one of the features streamlined in the new OxygenOS 11, based on Android 11. (This is the first global smartphone not manufactured by Google to launch with Android 11.) OnePlus has reimagined their OS with newly optimized layouts, animations, and gestures, making one-handed operation easier. Customizations and preferences, such as the new Dark Mode and Always On Display (AOD) clock face, will allow users to fine-tune the OnePlus 8T to their liking.

That may include the new Bitmoji AOD feature – where your personal Bitmoji will liven up your ambient display, updating throughout the day based on your activity. Similarly, Zen Mode 2.0 encourages users to keep the phone out of their hands when focus is needed.

The OnePlus 8T has been designed for smoothness in both software and hardware. Its Flowscape AMOLED display is 28% thinner, seamlessly transitioning from screen to body. It boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, high colour accuracy, and energy efficiency, emitting 40% less blue light.

Beneath the hood, the 8T uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and packs 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. UFS 3.1 enables rapid flash storage, and 5G and Wi-Fi 6 support for fast data speeds. Shooting and playing 4K video will be smoother and drain the battery less. A large vapor chamber with graphite and thermally conductive silicone grease dissipates heat across the device, so all of this power remain safe and stable.

The OnePlus 8T will be available on OnePlus’s website October 23 at 11AM EST and will retail at $1,099 CDN, with Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver casing options.
