Fresh off his performances as Poe Dameron in the recent Star Wars films, Oscar Isaac is reportedly in talks to return to Disney — specifically, to Marvel’s Disney+ lineup, this time as Moon Knight. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news today but the casting is not yet official.

If this comes to pass, Isaac will join the ranks of the streaming service’s expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe shows. Hawkeye, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel are also in development, along with a Nick Fury series for Samuel L. Jackson. The first three series — WandaVision, Captain America and the Winter Soldier, and Loki — will arrive before the end of next year.

Isaac has already participated in two alternate timelines for Marvel: first as the villain in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, and again in a brief cameo during Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse‘s credits, where he voiced Spider-Man 2099, aka Miguel O’Hara. His other film credits include Ex Machina, Annihilation, Inside Llewyn Davis, and the upcoming adaptation of Dune.

Moon Knight was created in 1975 by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, and over time has been associated with the Marvel Knights and Defenders, as well as various Avengers teams. His real identity is Marc Spector, a boxer and marine turned mercenary who has multiple personalities. Betrayed and almost killed by his employer, his life is spared by the Egyptian god Khonshu, and he uses his new lease on life to fight crime.

Moon Knight is traditionally associated with the Marvel Knights corner of the comic universe.

Jeremy Slater (Umbrella Academy) has been named as showrunner for Moon Knight, which will likely arrive sometime in 2022 or 2023, given how packed the MCU slate is on Disney+.
