The Sony Global Social Justice Fund was established three years ago, and Sony has re-confirmed its commitment to justice through its PlayStation Career Pathways Program.
The Global Social Justice Fund is a Sony Group-established multi-million dollar initiative that supports and promotes social justice and anti-racist initiatives globally. Sony Interactive has committed over $10 million USD through this fund to advance the initiative.
The PlayStation Career Pathways Program was established to strengthen educational and career opportunities for disadvantaged communities. The PlayStation Career Pathways Program elevates underrepresented talent to reach new heights through partnerships with local, national, and global organizations.
Fall 2023, the first group of students eligible for the program will be granted mentorship access to Sony Interactive and PlayStation Studios employees in order to advance student opportunities in the gaming space for underrepresented communities.
The PlayStation Career Pathways Program website states, “We are excited about the possibilities and opportunities that this program will provide for Black and Indigenous students from our partners, and we look forward to sharing our industry expertise with them and learning from them as they matriculate through this experience. We remain committed to the mission of the social justice fund and are thrilled to work with these students and our partners to improve equity and create belonging for the gaming industry” regarding the exciting first class of participants.
