Fans of the wildly successful Pokémon-flavoured Life Sim can look forward to starting a new life under the sea as details about the Bubbly Basin expansion pass have been revealed.
Announced via press release, the Pokémon Company group revealed that Part 1 of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass paid DLC is set to release on August 5 for the Nintendo Switch 2. The DLC brings players to the titular underwater town, where they can build with new “Buoyant Blocks,” which allow them to make buildings that are only possible underwater, floating at different levels. Players can also build a Sharpedo submarine to make a room which feels like a Secret Base.
Players players can grow watermelons with the help of Pokémon with the Water specialty, while Pokémon with the Generate specialty can power bubble machines or activate streetlights. They can also build a Sharpedo submarine to make a room which feels like a Secret Base. Players can traverse a hole in the sea floor to explore the deep sea shrouded in darkness and enjoy an exciting adventure alongside Pokémon by following the glowing coral.
If Pokémon Pokopia players download the free Ver 2.0.0 update from August 5, they’ll be able to learn the move Dive from Manaphy. Once learned, players will be able to swim alongside Water-type Pokémon and build underwater. While they didn’t provide more details, Pokémon Company hinted that players can look forward to dressing up alongside their favorite Pokémon by wearing accessories in Part 2 of the paid DLC, scheduled for release in late 2026.

Pokémon Pokopia debuted on March 5th, 2026 as one of the first dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 games. It received near universal praise and became the highest-rated game in the series. CGM’s Chris de Hoog said, “After almost a week in Pokémon Pokopia, I still feel like I have several worlds left to conquer.”
