A PlayStation 5 Dualsense V2 Has Leaked & It Comes

A listing featuring a ‘PlayStation 5 Dualsense V2’ has appeared over on Best Buy Canada, and it comes with a major upgrade not present in the current PS5 controller.

Considering the third colourway — the Silver Dualsense — in the ‘Deep Earth Collection’ is launching on January 26, it’s perplexing as to why the PlayStation 5 would launch an upgraded PS5 controller V2 anywhere near that launch date, but here we are with a listing for one.

A listing over on Best Buy Canada reveals an ‘upgraded’ V2 version of the PS5 controller, the listing is completely separate from the original controller (although they are both listed for the same price of $89.99 CAD) and it appears to have no exterior changes. Aside from the separate pages, the listing appears to show the Dualsense controller consumers have been familiar with since the PS5 launched in 2020.

To be clear, there has been no confirmation as to the validity of the PS5 controller V2, so until Sony officially announces something this may just be an error on Best Buy’s part (although the listing for the controller is still up). The V2 controller brings over all of the features from the V1, except battery life has received a notable upgrade. The very bottom of the product features details “Exceptional 12-hour battery life, on a full charge, supports long gaming sessions” which the original listing does not include.

Another notable inclusion not normally included with the current PS5 controller is the “Dual Sense charging station (included) offers easy click-in charging” which is said to be included with the Dualsense V2 listing (the charging station is not pictured). Considering one of the main complaints about the PS5 Dualsense is its battery life, this upgrade could have a legitimate purpose.

It’s also worth mentioning the original Dualsense controller product number is listed as #3005739 and the V2 is listed as #1000039935, so at the very least they are listed separately for inventory purposes. Fans can check out the Best Buy listing here, but should take this listing with a grain of salt. It is possible it was an error posted to the site, and until Sony makes an official announcement the Dualsense V2 might not ever be released.
