After years of speculation, it has finally been confirmed that Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare DLC are coming to PC just in time for Halloween.
Following years of speculation after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, it has been announced that the original game, complete with the Undead Nightmare DLC, is coming to PC just in time for Halloween. Similar to the Nintendo Switch port launched last year, Rockstar Games, in collaboration with Double Eleven, has ported the first title in the RDR series to PC with new details not included in the original release.

This new ported version adds PC-specific enhancements (and support for PC peripherals), including native 4K resolution at up to 144Hz, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality. The port also supports upscaling technology, allowing fans to experience Undead Nightmare in its clearest form yet.
It’s worth noting that Rockstar Games’ ports have had trouble in the past. RDR2 launched with a myriad of issues when it was ported to PC in 2019, which could explain why this port took so long to come out.
CGMagazine’s review of RDR2 on PC details some of the performance issues the title had on launch by saying it “has been one of the roughest PC launches I’ve ever experienced, but what was more concerning to me was how varied the issues were between each player. While I was stuck at the launcher, others were contending with crashing at the intro screen, and many more were experiencing frequent FPS stuttering, bugs, and other gameplay hindrances if they actually managed to get into the game upon release.”
While it remains to be seen whether the first title will experience the same issues as the sequel, Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are launching for PC on October 29, just in time for Halloween. Fans can visit the Rockstar website for pre-order information and a new trailer for the port.
