RUMOUR: Red Dead Redemption Remaster To Be Announced, Coming To PC 2

Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption is one of the most iconic Western video games from the past ten years. Developed by Rockstar Games’ San Diego branch, the game follows John Marston, a reformed outlaw sent back into the Wild West to track down his old posse. The original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 release broke 14 million sales, and saw multiple DLC packs, a standalone expansion pack called Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare and critically acclaimed reviews throughout the gaming community. And now, a new rumor suggests that a remastered version is in the works for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

According to a translation of the Korean games journalism website GameFocus, a Red Dead Redemption remastered edition will land for current generation consoles in early 2017. The site suggests that the news will be officially announced at the upcoming PlayStation Meeting on September 7th in New York City. The news follows rumors from the French gaming site GameBlog that the upcoming PlayStation “Neo” will be officially announced as well. If so, tomorrow looks to be an exciting day for Sony fans.

Most surprising of all, however, is the claim that Red Dead Redemption will be released for PC. Since the game’s original 2010 launch, Rockstar fans have been clamoring for the opportunity to enjoy John Marston’s story from their desktop computers. If GameFocus’s claims turn out to be true, then a remastered version will soon land for PC players around the world to finally enjoy the six year old classic.

Still, a remastered release of Red Dead Redemption isn’t the first time this year that Rockstar’s open-world Wild West release has been in the news. In early July, the game became officially compatible for Xbox One. A NeoGAF post from April provided a leaked copy of a supposed Red Dead Redemption 2 in-game map, which was supposedly confirmed by a source close to Rockstar Games. While it’s hard to say for sure if Rockstar Games has plans for any new Red Dead Redemption releases, it seems highly likely that the developer has something planned for the series in the near future. But only time will tell for sure.
