Resident Evil insider recently discovered Code Veronica and Zero remakes are supposedly in the works, and on track for multi-year releases.
Coming hot off The Game Awards 2025 announcements for Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem, more Resident Evil news has surfaced. Reportedly, a trusted insider uncovered that Resident Evil Code Veronica and Zero are the next remakes in development. The insider also learned these games are scheduled for 2027 and 2028 release windows. Well-known leaker Dusk Golem is the same person who found out that Leon S. Kennedy would return in Requiem, prior to the reveal at The Game Awards.
Over this past weekend, Dusk Golem posted on X: “What I’ve heard is Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake should be announced next year and release in 2027, then Zero Remake releasing the following year in 2028. I’ll keep you posted if I hear differently. For now, though, Requiem hype time! RE9 is two and a half months away!” Readers should take this information as unconfirmed, but it shows there is hope that the much-anticipated remakes are coming soon.
A few months ago, a Resident Evil 0 remake was reported to be in development under the project name Chamber, and would not be released until 2028. The dots are laid out; now it is a matter of whether they will connect. Capcom’s next showcase is already scheduled for January 2026, as Requiem drops on Feb. 27, 2026, during the franchise’s 30th anniversary. While the showcase is meant to show off some Leon gameplay, it would not be a bad time to make a major Resident Evil announcement, followed by a roadmap for the next couple of years.
In other related news, an interview with Automaton revealed that Grace Ashcroft and Leon will equally share the gameplay in Requiem. Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi stated that “Grace and Leon’s playable sections are almost equally split.” He added that the “structure is similar to Resident Evil Revelations.” Nakanishi also noted that this is Leon’s first time back in Raccoon City since his fated beginnings there in Resident Evil 2. “Seeing how he responds to the ‘place where it all began’ now that he’s older is another major point of interest.”
Since Leon is older now, he is also shown to be less clean-shaven than he was in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4. “Although he’s a character who carries a lot on his shoulders, we took a lot of care in refining him to be an ‘ikeoji’ [a cool or attractive guy],” Nakanishi said, noting how the new trailer made the development team happy.
The interview also covered the decision to have Leon show up in a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa stated, “We were looking for a car that fit Leon, and thankfully, Porsche kindly agreed, which led to a full collaboration.” Yes, this means there is a real-life version of Leon’s brand-new car somewhere.

Resident Evil Requiem is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on February 27, 2026.
