Ex-Rockstar Founder Reunites GTA 5 Writing Dream Team For Mysterious New Game

Announced back in June 2021, Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser’s new studio, Absurd Ventures, has made another splash in the news today with two more big hires from the GTA 5 development team.

As confirmed back in June, Absurd Ventures is looking to create new experiences and “new IP across all platforms and formats,” and it’s as unclear now as it was then what they’re working on. But one thing’s for sure: they’re definitely adding to the studio’s talent pool. As reported by BeGeek.fr, Lazlow Jones and Michael Unsworth are reuniting with Dan Houser at Absurd Ventures, as some big hires were announced today.

Michael Unsworth has a huge list of credits but has been most known for his writing work on Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, L.A. Noire, and more of Rockstar’s work. Lazlow Jones is also no stranger to Rockstar work, having previously produced Bully, Red Dead Redemption, (and non-Rockstar work) Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain and other projects. Both Rockstar veterans join the studio as head of story and creative management at Absurd Ventures. Unfortunately for fans, though, the developer is drip-feeding information about the developer, there is almost nothing else known about what they’re working on.

The only other tidbit of information that has come out about Absurd Ventures is a report from Variety that came out earlier in the month and detailed the hiring of CAA vet Wendy Smith as chief operating officer of Absurd Ventures. She said then, “We will have more announcements in the weeks ahead about projects that we’re already in pre-production and production on those IP universes” regarding what the former Rockstar developers have in store for audiences.

For more information ahead of the official announcements, fans can visit the official Absurd Ventures website.
