Roblox Gains Sonic the Hedgehog in Sonic Speed Simulator

Launching Today.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate Preview — A Promising Remaster

It’s a Sonic-filled year with the recently released sequel movie and the upcoming Breath of the Wild-inspired game, Sonic Frontiers, but it doesn’t stop there as Sonic is also making his way to Roblox in a speed simulator game.

The Sonic Speed Simulator game is available starting today. The project is officially backed by Sega and according to a press release is being worked on by “professional game developer and publisher Gamefam” which is more well known for working exclusively on Roblox’s platform.

“We’re proud that SEGA entrusted our talented team of creators to bring Sonic to the metaverse and deliver the highest velocity, and probably best-looking game in Roblox history,” Gamefam said in a statement.

The inclusion of Sega’s chilli-dog-loving mascot marks the first time a AAA game character has crossed-over into the highly popular game. Roblox players will insert themselves into the fast shoes of Sonic as they race against friends while unlocking pets and Sonic character skins as they get through the collaboration project. If the Sonic Speed Simulator Roblox game manages to receive 100,000 in-game an “exclusive community Sonic the Hedgehog skin” will be automatically unlocked.

Sonic Speed Simulator is the fastest game in Roblox and features everyone’s favourite speedster, Sonic the Hedgehog. In the game, players will be able to level up and gain speed by running through multiple unique worlds while racing against friends to earn rewards, including pets that can increase stats and Sonic character skins,” a Sonic Speed Simulator description states in a press release.

So far, Sega is doing all the right things when it comes to the Sonic IP in the realm of movies and, hopefully in the upcoming Netflix series. The inclusion of the character into the metaverse game does more goodwill to the character on Sega’s part.

As for the officially made games from Sega, this has been a struggle on the publisher’s part in the past decade. Sonic Generations is honestly the last good original game that was released and that came out back in 2011. While there have been some good Sonic games, more often than not there have been more bad games. We’ll see if Sonic Frontiers brings back Sonic into the limelight of wholesome goodness fans of the series want if it is coming this year.
