After less than three years in service, Sony is shuttering the PlayStation Stars loyalty program and all qualifying points will be redeemable until Sept 2026.
PlayStation Stars, the loyalty program Sony launched less than three years ago promoting rewards for playing, is shutting down. Sony announced the decision over on the PlayStation Blog today, and the program will no longer accept new membership.
The Stars program was built to celebrate fans and offer digital collectibles to show off to one another from Sony’s storied history. Since the program launched, Sony has evaluated how their fanbase interacts with the program and through that evaluation they’ve decided to wind the program down. Although the PlayStation Stars program is closing, Sony has promised they will continue to evaluate key findings from the program, and are looking to build upon the experience.

Fans should note that while PlayStation Stars is closing its doors to new members, if active members decide to cancel their Stars membership, they will not be granted access back into the program. Existing members can still earn rewards as the program initially intended until July 23, 2025. After July 23, there will be no new PlayStation Stars Campaigns available, or any additional rewards or status benefits to earn for members. Lastly, this current version of PlayStation Stars will fully end on November 2, 2026 and members can continue to redeem Points as long as their Points don’t expire before then.
Vice President of Network Advertising, Loyalty and Licensed Merchandise, Grace Chen said “We want to thank all of our players for supporting PlayStation Stars since the launch in 2022. As we explore new ways to evolve our loyalty program efforts for the future, we’ll continue to celebrate all of our players through the various community activities we have planned.” So while Stars is ending, it’s possible Sony has a new loyalty program in the works to replace it with in the coming future.
Fans should wait for an official announcement from Sony regarding any future loyalty program roll out.
