Square Enix Reveals Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Closed Beta Date

Square Enix has announced the date for its upcoming Dissidia Final Fantasy NT closed beta in North America and Europe.

Details were revealed for the closed beta test of Square Enix’s three-versus-three action game spinoff, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The closed beta test will begin at 9:00 A.M. PT on August 27 and will end at the same time on September 4, 2017. Closed beta participants will be able to use the Warrior of Light, Firion, Onion Knight, Cecil Harvey, Bartz Klauser, Terra Branford, Cloud Strife, Squall Leonhart, Zidane Tribal, Tidus, Shantotto, Vaan, Lightning, and Y’shtola as playable characters. Ifrit, Odin and Shiva will also be available in the beta as usable summons.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is the console port of the Japan-exclusive arcade fighting game, Dissidia Final Fantasy. Acting as a follow-up to the PlayStation Portable title of the same name and its sequel, Dissidia Final Fantasy features a similar combat system to the games before it. Players use a mixture of Brave attacks, which increase the amount of damage they can deal, and HP attacks that damage their opponents. The game’s console port will feature additional systems not present in the original. While neither version has an official “Story Mode”, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will present a story of some kind through various event scenes. Originally released in Japan in 2015, the arcade version of Dissidia Final Fantasy currently holds around 50 characters from across the Final fantasy series. There has been no word on how many of those characters will be included in the console port.

The closed beta for Dissidia Final Fantasy NT was originally announced by Square Enix at Evo 2017. Those interested in signing up for a chance to participate can do so over at Square Enix’s official site. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will be coming to the PlayStation 4 in early 2018.
