The Last Of Us Part II Has Been Leaked, Spoiling Full Game Before Launch 1

Video footage spoiling all of The Last Of Us Part II has been posted to YouTube, seemingly by a disgruntled employee of developer Naughty Dog.

Yesterday evening, a YouTube account belonging to the alleged developer began uploading a collection of gameplay snippets from the unreleased sequel. The videos kept coming as the internet took notice, and before long we had the biggest leak in video game history on our hands (not counting whatever happened with Cooking Mama: Cookstar releasing and un-releasing). It’s worth noting that the posted videos actually mirrored a 4Chan leak earlier this month (beware of spoilers), confirming said rumour’s validity.

Sony has since taken the videos down, and a bit of research has shown that specifics of late-game events aren’t known yet, but you shouldn’t look at anything if you don’t want a summary of the whole game. In case you do, here is ResetEra’s compilation thread for all the spoiled content. This leak came a few weeks after The Last Of Us Part II was announced to be indefinitely delayed, and, ironically, a day before the game was announced to be releasing on June 19th.

However, if the rumours floating around about Naughty Dog’s abusive internal practices hold any water, this leak was a long time coming. From the sexual harassment of David Ballard to an intense development death march (a real term for crunching before and after a delay) being endured by the exhausted team, Naughty Dog’s been put under the looking glass in recent years when it comes to employee treatment. With an enforced culture of crunch becoming standardized in the AAA space, we may see more leaks of this caliber before things (hopefully) get better.

Whatever the future brings, The Last Of Us Part II will be coming out on PlayStation 4 on June 19th. We’ll keep you up to date with the latest coverage of Sony’s next summer blockbuster (that’s pretty much what it is, eh?), and we wish you the best out there.
