The Sinking City Sets Sail On Switch Next Week

It took a bit of time, but developer Frogwares announced that the Nintendo Switch port of The Sinking City is coming on September 12th, 2019.

As we detailed previously, The Sinking City on Nintendo Switch is not just a standard port. The team worked on multiple improvements and tweaks based on player feedback. The game is optimized to run at a stable 30 FPS, combat was improved to have more weight and feel, and AI has been tweaked, in addition to assorted polishing and bug fixing. Extra care was also taken to make the game available in multiple languages with full VO and text in English, French, German and Russian, and text support in Spanish, Italian, Czech, Polish, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese.

This Switch port is currently digital-only, but the wording of the press release leaves the door open for a limited-run physical sale. “We initially wanted to do a physical release – we know lots of players prefer these – but we were eventually forced to put this off for now,” said communications manager Sergey Oganesyan. “We didn’t want to take too long to release the game on the Nintendo Switch, but going into the logistics and distribution of physical editions would push the release back by months. Frogwares is self-publishing this version but we’re not a big company and don’t have the resources to handle such a complex process ourselves. So, we’re focusing on the digital release first and might release a physical edition later.”

Frogwares have included a selection of timed pre-order bonuses for the Nintendo Switch edition while also putting together a Deluxe Edition with additional side missions. The standard version will retail for $49.99 while the Deluxe Edition is set for $64.99.

You can order your copy of The Sinking City now, or wait to pick it up when it releases on September 12th. And if you don’t want to wait, you can also buy the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows right now.
