Xbox kicked off its gamescom 2025 “Day 1” broadcast by announcing Triangle Strategy will be coming to Xbox and PlayStation consoles, and it’s available today.
The tactical RPG from the team behind the OCTOPATH TRAVELER series, Triangle Strategy, is finally heading to new frontiers following its Nintendo Switch console exclusive status since launch. Fans can now experience the story of the war-torn continent of Norzelia from different perspectives in HD-2D, with its turn-based strategy battle system on a new console. Triangle Strategy has launched for both Nintendo Switch and PC, selling over a million copies since its release in 2022, and after its reveal during the Xbox gamescom 2025 broadcast, it’s now also available on Xbox. CGMagazine’s review of Triangle Strategy calls it “a game that had some interesting ideas but was not quite sure how to make them into a completely fun experience” back in 2022, and that experience now makes its way to Xbox. It’s worth mentioning that while the Square Enix title is coming to Xbox, it won’t be arriving on Xbox Game Pass, at least not yet. It has been announced, though, that not only is it available on Xbox, it is also now available for PlayStation.
With the surprise announcement, fans who have been holding out until Triangle Strategy made it to Xbox are in luck price-wise, as the title is listed on the Xbox Store for a 30 percent discount. Normally, the base price of the title is $59.99, but if fans purchase Triangle Strategy within the next 14 days, it can be purchased for $41.99 instead. The same goes for PlayStation Plus members; the 30 percent discount applies on that platform as well. The early bird gets the worm indeed.
Fans are notably excited regarding the release, as some fans have taken to Reddit forums to express their elation around the announcement. One fan on the thread revealing the launch trailer said, “No freaking way dude that slaps,” and another fan expressed their happiness with, “Great news. I was hoping for a port when they announced the other 2D -3D games.”
Triangle Strategy is available now for Xbox and PlayStation, and it can be purchased digitally straight from their respective storefronts.
