Warner Bros. Canada set up a new installation for A Minecraft Movie at Yorkdale Shopping Centre that runs throughout the March Break week.
Torontonians will have noticed something different at Yorkdale Shopping Centre this past weekend. To celebrate the upcoming release of A Minecraft Movie, Warner Bros. Canada installed a wonderful, pixel-filled experience to promote the film. It is located near the TTC entrance and Starbucks Kiosk, running from Saturday, March 8 to Sunday, March 16, during typical mall hours. What is even better is that the event opportunity is totally free of charge!
A Minecraft Movie stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa among others, like Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple), Sebastian Eugene (Just Mercy) and Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus). It is based on the world of the best-selling video game of all time, Minecraft. In a strange turn of events, four misfits are transported to the Minecraft world, where they have to quickly learn about the rules of the world in order to make it back home.
Visitors are invited to step into the film’s pixelated paradise, showcased around a mega-sized interactive LED portal. Here, fans are encouraged to snap selfies with some of the movie characters—from the stealthy Creeper and buzzing Bee, to the adorable Pink Sheep. It will also feature pixel-perfect cherry blossom trees from the Overworld landscape. The adventure allows guests to enter an exclusive contest to win a trip to attend the world premiere in the UK.

Additionally, Cineplex has set up a life-size popcorn bucket where fans can purchase their tickets to see the film in advance to secure the best seats for opening weekend. Tickets are available to purchase on Cineplex’s official website, too.
Guests will also go home with exclusive goodies, including movie posters, activity sheets, LEGO Minecraft polybags, and more (while supplies last). Grab your pixelated pickaxes, step into the Nether portal, and have a great time experiencing the 64-bit game come to life!
