The gaming mouse industry is an incredibly competitive one, with many players trying everything to give them the edge, but most of us are looking for a few key things. We want it to be responsive, lightweight, and, in the case of a wireless mouse, we want it to last. The Monka Prime Gaming Mouse checks all of those boxes and does so in a pretty creative way.
In the box, you get the Monka Prime Gaming Mouse, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a second swappable battery (which we will dig into more briefly), some anti-perspiration decals, and a 2.4G wireless receiver. The mouse has your standard buttons with two side buttons and a clickable scroll wheel. It can connect to your computer either by a cable for a wired connection or wirelessly, either with the wireless receiver or via Bluetooth.

The Monka Prime Gaming Mouse weighs an impressively light 53g and has a PixArt PAW3395 sensor, providing smooth, consistent motion as you glide across your mousepad, syncing to the 250Hz-4000Hz polling rate. The Monka Prime sports Kailh SWORD GM X switches that are incredibly responsive and rated for over 100 million clicks. It also has an adjustable DPI up to an insane 26,000 DPI. I played around with the different DPI settings (options include 800, 1200, 2400, 3600, 5600, and 26000) and I found 3600 to be my sweet spot.
“My favourite thing about the Monka Prime Gaming Mouse is the swappable battery system.”
A steadier hand who isn’t so jumpy at the sound of gunfire in a game could do well with the super short travel of the mouse at higher levels, where the slightest twitch of the wrist sends you spinning. The comfort level with this mouse (yes, I put the anti-perspiration decals on) was fantastic. Even gaming with an ultrawide monitor, I am barely moving around, and it feels like air in my hand.
My favourite thing about the Monka Prime Gaming Mouse is the swappable battery system. Each of the two provided 300mAh batteries has its own USB-C port, so they can be charged outside of the mouse. You can switch one out when the other is dead, you can be back up and running in seconds without having to plug in or charge the mouse. The batteries are easy to swap out and get you back in the game in no time, giving you up to 60 hours of non-stop gaming.

The Monka Prime Gaming Mouse is also programmable with its driver software to create your own macros or assign other custom functions to the buttons in case you have really specific needs when it comes to what the buttons on your mouse can do. A price tag of $65 USD for the Monka Prime seems more than reasonable given that it comes with a second battery and a receiver, not to mention the fact that it can go up to 26,000 DPI.
The Monka Prime Gaming Mouse is a great mouse for what it is, especially one that isn’t among the giant brands in the industry. It delivers on all of my needs, being responsive, durable, and long-lasting, all at a reasonable price. What more can I ask for?
