Redragon recently dropped their latest anime line of peripherals, including the EISA K686 PRO SE anime keyboard, EISA K1NG M916 PRO (1K Hz) anime mouse, ARTEMIS K719 PRO anime keyboard, PREDATOR M612 PRO anime gaming mouse, and ZEUS H510 customizable anime edition headset. The REDRAGON ZEUS H510 customizable anime edition headset is more than just a novelty headset for its anime and RGB sensibilities, packed with 7.1 surround sound and a detachable noise-cancelling mic.
The headset immediately felt comfortable and cushioned my head. Its adjustable size features were easy to slide around to find the ideal fit. The leatherette ear cushions were also squishy enough to keep my ears snug, without weighing down on my head. While I enjoyed the RGB implementation with the outer layer of the ear cups, they were a bit tricky to take off and put on—nothing impossible though.

To test the audio quality, I primarily used the ZEUS H510 customizable anime edition headset for PC gaming, watching some movies and shows, and casually listening to music. The 7.1 surround sound was crisp, with the spatial audio being one of the best I have heard—even against some higher-tiered headsets. Something about the directional sounds came through clear as day.
Whether it was playing a game like Valorant, Fortnite, League of Legends, or Dead by Daylight, the audio was clear. I felt like the shots and pings around my character matched the directions of the sound travelling through my ears. Faint, distant footsteps were clearer than ever as well—particularly in Dead By Daylight. The precise audio quality saved me a bunch of times, both as the killer and as a survivor. Even my other everyday gaming headsets or headphones were not that pinpoint accurate to hear which direction the enemy footsteps were coming from.
Without a Redragon PC app, I was unable to fine-tune the audio settings to my liking for certain situations. For example, the noise-cancellation mic might have been too strong by default. I think the noise gate was closing too soon, so teammates could not hear me say full sentences at times. I even fiddled with the onboard sound volume built into the headset cord.

Other times, my teammates noted how soft I sounded. I was able to adjust settings on PC, but this is something that would help through a dedicated Redragon app. Redragon already has an app for their mouse and keyboard lines, so it would be great if they could dedicate some settings for their audio peripherals as well. Everyone’s console or PC audio settings might be different, so why not have a software hub to allow users to customize their experience?
From a single-player game perspective, the ZEUS H510 customizable anime edition headset feels awesome. I booted up Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Alien: Isolation. Similar to my multiplayer experience, the sound quality held strong. For Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, I felt like the characters were speaking in the booth right next to me, and the lightsaber sounds hit my eardrums down to my feet. With Alien: Isolation, oh man, that was a trip. Let me just say: I could hear every Xenomorph fingernail hitting metal in the vents, and every Synthetic voice talking a few rooms away.
The ZEUS H510 customizable anime edition headset accommodates its independent line control with dedicated volume +/- controls, a microphone mute button, and an RGB switch. These buttons could have been a great addition to quickly adjust audio immediately and cycle through RGB settings. However, they barely affected the sound output on the mic—as noted above. I tried changing settings on my PC, and found that only increasing my mic volume under PC settings worked.

One of the only drawbacks of this headset is that it is only compatible with last-generation consoles, the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Luckily, it can connect to PC, Mac, and the Switch to keep up with some current-gen gaming. The other, smaller issue I had with this headset was how generic the anime characters on the ear side shells were. They could have collaborated with an actual anime series to make it even more marketable.
The Redragon ZEUS H510 customizable anime edition headset’s design is comfortable, and the audio output quality is fantastic. Some design and technological reworks could help sell the next iteration a bit better. Implementing software to change audio settings would also be helpful to adjust to the user’s listening preferences. Otherwise, this $70 dollar headset is a decent start for gamers on a tight budget.
