I am, by no means, a handy person. Always one to fumble with a screwdriver, build something the wrong way a few times until getting it right, and whip out my far superiorly handy best friend whenever things went awry. I’ve always loved the idea of a smart lock but thought it’d be too difficult, take too much work, and I was honestly just nervous about breaking something. When the opportunity arose to check out the Veise VE027-H Built-in Wi-Fi Fingerprint Smart Deadbolt Lock, I knew it was time to face my fears and battle the front door.
A smart lock has always seemed like such a great fit for my household. My partner and I both tend to be forgetful, meaning the tired ritual of running out of the car to make sure someone locked the house has been far too common. Even going through the motions of cutting multiple keys just to let family into our house when we’re away became a nuisance, but thankfully, the Veise VE027-H Built-in Wi-Fi Fingerprint Smart Deadbolt Lock has genuinely made our life easier.
The Veise Smart Lock has plenty of fantastic features, but let’s start with the most upfront one: installation. The QR code in the box links to easy-to-follow videos that make the physical installation a breeze, even for those of us less capable. All it took was a screwdriver to pop my old lock off, a process that ended up being far easier than expected. Once out, I was able to reseat the new deadbolt, with a couple of options in length to make sure it fit properly.

Then came putting the unit on. Through this process, I found out that whoever installed my lock and door the first time around must have done it blindfolded, with odd cuts and spacing in the hole. The Veise wouldn’t fit with the included spacer, but thankfully, you can easily take it off if your door is as janky as mine.
This let the unit pop on easily, running one cable through the opening and securing it on the back. It takes 8x AA batteries, promising a 240-day battery life. This is my only real concern about the device, but we’ll find out in 200-something days. It also includes a black handle that feels premium and solid, if you’re looking for a replacement.
Once the Veise Smart Lock was on, downloading the app and setting up the remaining features was incredibly easy. The app is simple to navigate and offers plenty of security options. You can unlock the door through the app and receive notifications whenever it opens or closes, including who unlocked it. Voice notifications also come from the unit itself, but thankfully, they can be turned off. There are no subscription fees or additional hubs required, as everything works after purchasing and installing the unit. It also continues to operate during a Wi-Fi outage because the mechanisms work locally, with Bluetooth connectivity available when you are nearby.

The unit also includes a fingerprint reader with a 0.2-second response time and multiple programming options. Using the app, you can register several fingerprints for different users and name each one so notifications clearly identify who is entering. It also comes with two easy-to-program fobs, along with two physical keys and keypad codes that can be configured through the app. With so many options, there are plenty of ways to get in and out of the house without carrying a physical key. It is also compatible with both Alexa and Google Home for hands-free voice control, allowing you to lock or unlock the door with a simple voice command.
Another option I turned on immediately is the timed auto-lock function. You can set the time between 10 seconds and 3 minutes. Once it’s on, the door will automatically lock if left unlocked after the defined period of time. It’s worked flawlessly so far, and it’s simple to turn off, one toggle being all it takes. Away mode also sets alarms if the lock is used when you’re away, turning off only with a master code input. It’s a great way to know your home is safe and secure even when away on vacation.
So far, the Veise Smart Lock has worked exactly as it should. Every fingerprint read has been quick and accurate, the number pad is responsive, and the auto-lock feature has been timed appropriately. It was easy to install, and the app works well. It has enough features to protect your home as you see fit, with the away mode being useful for longer excursions. While the battery life is a question I can’t answer yet, so far, I’m impressed by how much it’s improved my daily life when I’m at home or away from it.
