At Least One More Secret Still Remains in Nier: Automata

Nier: Automata celebrated it’s one year anniversary today and according to the game’s developers the game still has at least one secret left to discover.

In an interview with Famitsu, designers Takashisa Taura and Yoko Tara said that the secret is “unpleasant” and that they have yet to see anyone bring it up online or in person. When asked what the secret was Taro said that the team would rather not say as “problems may occur” if they did.

Nier: Automata is an action role-playing game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix. The game is set in the middle of a war between alien machines and what’s left of humanity and follows a combat droid, her companion, and a fugitive prototype. The game launched to wide acclaim in March of 2017, with reviewers praising it for its intuitive combat and emotionally charged story.

Since then it has also sold over 2 million copies, which is way more than the game’s team expected. Tato and Taura revealed in their interview that they were aiming to sell 1 million copies of the game overall and that they are ecstatic with how the game has performed so far.
