Project Resistance has been revealed ahead of the Tokyo Game Show as a “brand-new team-based survival horror experience.”
The game looks like a four-player cooperative game using online multiplayer and features a variety of civilian characters going up against a shadowy mastermind who deploys enemies from the Resident Evil 2 remake. These include regular zombies (who do not display their resilience from RE2), a licker, and a wirelessly-controlled Mr. X. This seems to suggest RTS-like asymmetric multiplayer elements, but we don’t have any concrete details on the gameplay, so we can’t be sure.
We’ve been down the “Resident Evil team-based spinoff shooter” road before. In the past ithas worked out, such as with games like Outbreak and its follow-up. When it comes to projects like Operation Raccoon City and Umbrella Corps… things didn’t go so well. Still, Capcom is giving the subgenre another go, and the cinematic trailer does a decent job of getting our hopes up again.
Project Resistance will have more information revealed at Tokyo Game Show this Thursday, and will have a closed demo at some point in the near future. We’ll keep you updated on the details as they’re released.
