Ghostrunner 2 Announced for Next-Gen Consoles

A Ghostrunner sequel has been announced by developer One More Level and publisher 505 Games following extraordinary sales numbers since the first’s launch in October of last year.

The cyberpunk action title, Ghostrunner, is officially getting a sequel for Xbox Series X丨S, PlayStation 5, and PC; once again being developed by One More Level and published by 505 Games. The Italian publisher who recently worked with Remedy Entertainment on Control has been making several moves as of late, with this being the latest.

After purchasing the Ghostrunner intellectual property from One More Level, 505 Games is pushing forward with the development of a sequel based on the impressive sales numbers of the first title, which has sold over 600,000 copies since its October 2020 launch.

With 505 Games contributing an initial investment of Euro 5 million, One More Level is getting the support it needs to continue on the path of success for this exciting indie title. Additionally, the original Ghostrunner will be launching on next-gen consoles this year, which should only lead to more sales for the first-person cyberpunk hit.

“We are particularly excited about the future release of Ghostrunner 2. Together with One More Level, we have created a thrilling and engaging video game.” says Raffaele Galante, co-CEO of Digital Bros (owner of 505 Games). “This new collaboration deepens 505 Games presence within the Polish videogame market, a reality now among the firsts in Europe for the development of video games, new projects and talents.”

With Poland offering a substantial game development powerhouse, from developers CD Projekt Red and Techland calling it home, it makes sense to see publishing houses continue to push towards building a presence in the region, and Ghostrunner’s success just follows suit.

“We will continue to pay close attention to the Polish market to constantly improve and expand our product portfolio with video games capable of satisfying the tastes of the entire gaming community,” Galante says of 505 Games’ place in the Polish market.
