MTG Warhammer 40K Decks Are Making A Big Comeback With Reprints In Stores

After weeks of rumours, it has finally been confirmed: Magic: The Gathering Warhammer 40K decks are returning to stores with fresh reprints.

Fans have speculated for months that the MTG Warhammer 40K preconstructed decks would be returning to storefronts, and today those fans have been vindicated. The four pre-con decks that were released back in October 2022 will be landing on retail shelves once more, although the Collector’s Editions (featuring 100 surge foil cards) that launched alongside them will likely stay off.

The report first broke over on Reddit (like the rest of the speculation), with an employee of a retail establishment spilling the beans that they can submit forms to order the decks. IGN then picked this information up and reached out to Wizards of the Coast themselves regarding the potential for reprints of the four Warhammer 40K Commander deck pre-cons, and they confirmed the reprint rumours. A spokesperson for WOTC said, “Yes, we can confirm that we did a small reprint of the Commander decks that will be available to distributors and stores soon,” adding, “Fans and WPN retailers should check with their distributors for availability, as it may vary by region.”

Whether the drop will be incredibly limited or not remains unconfirmed, but the reprinted decks may help fix the current market for the Magic: The Gathering Warhammer 40K offerings. Currently, a new, sealed pre-con deck can go for hundreds of dollars, especially where the Nekron Dynasties commander deck is concerned, on secondary markets. For reference, these products retailed initially at $59.99, giving those who price-hike TCG products the keys to more profit. Now these decks will be reprinted in a “limited” capacity, allowing fans who weren’t familiar with MTG‘s game a second chance at securing Warhammer 40K pre-cons at a non-scalper price point.

As far as timing and release go, the only information that has been given is to implore fans to check in with stores and store owners to check in with distribution for potential stock. Until more information is provided, fans can rest assured that Warhammer 40K pre-con reprints are now not a matter of if, but when.
