Expanding the Fitbit family, Google announces the Fitbit Edge, designed to track workouts and health, and the Metal Mesh band for the Fitbit Air.
Following the Googlebook announcement in September 2026, Google reveal the Fitbit Edge, featuring a range of health features and trackers to elevate users’ fitness journey with a Gemini-powered Google Health Coach. Additionally, Google is updating the Fitbit Air with new features and accessories, including expanded Google Health features, improved activity recognition, and new Metal Mesh bands.

Joining the Fitbit family, the Fitbit Edge is a health and fitness companion, compatible with the Google Health app and the Gemini-powered Google Health Coach. With its many features, the Fitbit Edge offers workout tracking with 50+ exercise modes, GPS tracking for outdoor activities, post-workout summaries, advanced sleep tracking, a skin temperature sensor, step and distance tracking, and more. For the essential tools, the Fitbit Edge includes notifications, quick replies, universal media controls, an alarm, a timer, and Google Maps navigation.
In terms of specs, the Fitbit Edge features an Ambiq AP5 MCU chip, a 1.34-inch oval AMOLED display, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, a replaceable 65mAh battery that lasts up to a week, a mechanical side button, 5 atm and IP68 dust and water resistance, and iOS and Android compatibility. Beyond the specs, the Fitbit Edge offers five accessory bands, including:

Taking fitness to the next level, Fitbit Edge users can subscribe to Google Health Premium to unlock the Google Health Coach. The Gemini-powered tool includes an adaptive fitness plan with weekly routines and workout recommendations, sleep summaries and coaching to improve sleep quality, and insights into how their nutrition links to their sleep and workout performance when they log their meals via photos or text. Additionally, in the U.S. only, users can ask to turn medical records into easy, accessible summaries.
Alongside the Google Health Coach, Fitbit Edge incorporates Health Guardian, which tracks important shifts in users’ health and wellness. Exclusive to Google Health Premium, Health Guardian includes blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, ECG to detect signs of atrial fibrillation, heart rate alerts when it’s low or high, and a 24/7 heart rate monitor. In addition to Health Guardian, the Fitbit Edge features a dedicated women’s health tracker for menstrual cycles and answers questions about how their day-to-day activities are affected.

For fans of the beloved NBA Golden State Warriors player and Google Health Performance Advisor, Fitbit Edge will have a special edition based on Stephen Curry, similar to the Fitbit Air. The upcoming edition features a custom basketball-themed interface, a custom Rye colourway, satin-finish Pyrite lugs, and a water-repellent band.
The Fitbit Edge launches on October 27, 2026, priced at $229.99 CAD, with the accessories starting at $39.99. Alongside the regular models, the Fitbit Edge Stephen Curry Edition will be available in the U.S., Canada, and EMEA for $219.99 USD.

Before wrapping up, Google announced the Fitbit Air will receive the Health Guardian expansion along with the Fitbit Edge and improved automatic activity recognition. Alongside the expanded features, the new elegant Metal Mesh band accessory joins the Fitbit Air bands lineup, available in silver and gold. The Metal Mesh band launches on October 27, 2026, with the accessory alone priced at $69.99 USD, and the Fitbit Air/Metal Mesh Bundle priced at $149.99 USD.
