Comic books have a habit of growing into something much bigger than anyone expects. A character debuts, readers like them, sales pick up, and before long they’re showing up everywhere.
Movies follow. Toys appear in stores. Theme parks get involved. Sometimes they even end up in places that seem completely unrelated to comics. Some have gone into gaming and can be found at most gaming sites and even new online casino Ontario focused brands.
Not every comic book character reaches that level, though. Plenty have come and gone over the years. The ones that survive usually have something that keeps people interested long after the original stories are published.

Batman
Batman has always stood out from the crowd. No powers. No supernatural origin. Just a guy with money and a unique way of dealing with crime in Gotham City.
But that simplicity is probably why he’s lasted so long. The franchise has gone through a lot of different eras. Some fans prefer the darker stories. Others grew up with the more colourful versions. The movies played a major role in keeping Batman at the top. Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy became one of the most successful superhero movie series ever released.
The X-Men
The X-Men built an audience in a different way.
It’s not just one hero carrying everything. It’s a whole group, all with different abilities and personalities, and half the drama comes from them not always agreeing with each other. So instead of focusing on one storyline, the franchise kept branching out. Different timelines, different casts, different interpretations of the same idea. The original trilogy, the prequel movies, and the spin-offs kept the franchise going for years. There was always another character to explore or another storyline to adapt.
Hellboy
Hellboy has always felt different from the typical comic book hero.
The character has a pretty unusual origin story, even by comic standards. Summoned to Earth by Nazis as an infant and raised into something that fights against the darker side of the world. The movies captured much of what fans liked about the comics. That helped them build a strong, loyal audience, even if they never became billion-dollar hits. The franchise even made its way into gaming.

More than Just Comics
