CGM Monthly Top 10 Reviews: May 2022
"Compared to other wireless headsets, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX for Xbox sits right in the middle of the pack. For example, the SteelSeries Arctis 9X sits around $259.99, but the Razer Kaira sits at $139.99 with the Kaira Pro for Xbox sitting at 199.99. The Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX matches the Kaira Pro at $199.99, but brings so much more to the table. The Kaira is Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless only, whereas the Stealth comes with a dongle. With the Arctis 9X and the Kaira being limited to PC and Xbox consoles only, the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 MAX will work with almost any current system you can think of without disruption."
"Costing $799 USD, the Sonos Arc is an expensive offering, but one that delivers a lot for that price tag. With the attention to detail, the pure sound quality, and the design and look of the Arc, you would be hard-pressed to find a better option on the market. While you can find a ‘decent’ soundbar for under $200, few offerings can deliver fantastic audio that immerses you into the experience like the Arc. For anyone looking for the best soundbar experience possible, there are no other speakers that can hold a candle to what the Sonos Arc brings to the table."
"Ultimately, I think the Bike+ is a powerful device for getting in or staying in shape, especially in the brutal cold months of winter. Here in Toronto, it’s freezing nine months of the year and running outside is incredibly hard on my lungs. Having a bike I can hop on and off to get my sweat on is incredibly handy. I could see myself riding this until the pedals fell off. It’s an excellent bike that is fun to use and all-around useful. The Bike+ is sleek and compact and doesn’t take up as much room as I thought it would, and the classes, for the most part, are a lot of fun. If you can afford it, I highly suggest buying one or at least doing a trial run. If I liked strangers, I’d say come over and use mine. This is an incredible bike that will truly have you looking like a normal superhero in no time."
"The sound quality is excellent. It is. Frankly, the Neat King Bee II is the most natural sounding my voice has ever been from a mic that I have reviewed for CGM. It captured a nice bass in my voice and the high frequency sounds were crisp. There also wasn’t too much of a muddy or nasally sound in the raw audio. Usually, it is a part of the signal that I have to cut down a little bit to really make my voice pop. With this mic, I feel comfortable going to air with it with no EQ in place at all."
"Top Gun: Maverick is everything a summer blockbuster should be. It's a spectacle on a level I haven’t seen in years. It doesn’t change the wheel plot-wise, but its main improvements are where it counts: breathtaking action and well-developed character relationships. Even as someone who was no fan of the original, I came out of the movie wanting to watch it again right then and there. This is a movie that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible."
"This season will bring a lot of familiar faces to the screen. I don’t want to spoil the surprises (and try not to let IMDB ruin it for you either), but iconic actors and the who’s who of sketch comedy will find their way into the show in ways that don’t disrupt from the show’s regular flow. What impresses me most is how little the cast has changed. Actors who have all made their individual marks in Hollywood all remain unapologetically Canadian with regular references to their home throughout the series. The flow of The Kids in The Hall also feels the same, even with the same theme song."
"It is strange seeing Jason Bateman take on such a dark story, and the concept sounds like it should not work, but somehow it all falls into place. From the drug cartels, to the riverboat casinos, Ozark is a four-season series that is some of the best crime TV that has hit streaming in recent years. With a solid cast, consistently great episodes, and a story that will have you screaming at your television as it finally comes to a close, Ozark is easily one of the best series Netflix has ever put out. For anyone that loves crime, and seeing how far a family has to go to get ahead, Ozark is one that should not be missed."
"After months of use in everyday situations and gaming, I can only highly recommend this monitor for those with more modest GPUs. It feels like one of the most impressive components of my new gaming PC setup, from its capable output to cherry-on-top bonuses like the extra inputs and speakers. It achieves a lot of power and convenience at a respectable price point, which should serve the majority of gamers pretty well."
"The ideal user for the 600 Gen 2 MAX is thus an Xbox gamer who 1) already owns multiple gaming machines, (e.g., PS4, PS5, dock-able Nintendo Switch, PC and/or Mac, 2) intends to get the most out of that headset’s compatibility with other consoles and devices, 3) doesn’t mind paying a bit extra for the privilege. If you fall into the latter category (and don’t need the Bluetooth functionality of the pricier 700 model), the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX is unquestionably the headset for you."
"With the addition of Wi-Fi 6E, a dead simple setup process, and being some of the best value for money routers currently on the market, the Eero Pro 6E is a must-own upgrade for people that demand the best. While there are more expensive options that boast a bit more features, it is hard to deny that the Eero Pro 6E is the premium mesh that delivers the features that are important while not breaking the bank to do so. With great speeds, a simple setup process, and constant updates, if you need an upgrade, you can be confident for years to come with an Eero Pro 6E purchase."
"I honestly didn’t expect to love Salt and Sacrifice as much as I did, considering I didn’t fully get into its predecessor, despite my love of Ska’s previous games, and my love of Soulsborne games. But this game managed to hook me not only with intense, methodical gameplay; but a great sense of style and improvements on its own gameplay that make the whole thing insanely fun. If you’re a fan of the series or the genre, then you’ll definitely enjoy this one!"
"I believe users get exactly what they pay for at the $149.99 price point, as the dóttir Freedom On-Grid headphones and case also came with a protection mesh bag and sports towel. From the design to the performance, the Freedom On-Grid Headphones were built tough like an athlete. Clearly, Davidsdottir and Thorisdottir have innovated one of the best experiences for sporty headphones that would allow the user to be laser-focused in their regimens. I could not name better headphones designed for fitness and an active lifestyle."
"If you are a sim racing enthusiast and are in the market for a racing wheel setup, then the Fanatec GT DD Pro Racing Wheel is a fantastic option that will get you hours and hours of racing fun and be pretty darn realistic at the same time. The GT DD Pro exceeded all my expectations and has let me get better at a game I thought my skill level had maxed out on using a controller."
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Series)
"Obi-Wan Kenobi treads through uncharted territory between two iconic eras with confidence. Deborah Chow gives fans a satisfying reunion with the Jedi Master. An aged, yet grizzled performance comes natural for McGregor who still has a few ways to reinvent Old Ben. In less than two episodes, the series turns a newfound appreciation for Lucas’ prequels into a marriage. This tense adventure leaves a lasting impression on Star Wars stories to come. More importantly, Obi-Wan Kenobi shows a saturated franchise can go further by changing the way viewers see older films."
