The 2017 Video Game Awards Are Upon Us 1

The biggest night in gaming is about to get bigger. The 2017 Video Game Awards have announced their gala event scheduled to air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Taking place on December 7th, 2017, the VGAs celebrate the best in games, eSports, and members of the gaming community. This year, the event is looking to be the biggest yet, broadcasting in 4K Ultra HD format and available via live stream across more than 16 gaming and digital streaming platforms, including localized versions for Chinese, South Korean and Japanese audiences. In addition, fans will be able to vote on select categories using Facebook Messenger, Google Search, and Twitter DM.

Creator/executive producer of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley said, “The Game Awards unites the global gaming community, no matter who you are, where you live, or what type of video games you enjoy.”

“This year we are excited to add even more partners to our distribution matrix, give fans new ways to interact with the show, and introduce several exciting new elements including The Game Awards Orchestra,” Keighley added.

As Keighley mentioned, The Game Awards Orchestra, an all-star group of some of the world’s most talented orchestral and rock musicians, will debut at the 2017 show. These acclaimed artists will be joined by special guests for a one-night-only performance of the music featured in video games of the past, present and future

While no official sponsors have been announced for the VGAs, we can only hope to receive something as good as the Schick Hydrobot in the 2017 event.

The full list of nominees can be viewed here, and news on world premieres, presenters, honourees, and other musical performances will be announced in the coming weeks leading into the live show on Thursday, December 7.
