Assassin's Creed Odyssey Free in Response to Coronavirus 2

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available for free on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC this weekend, Ubisoft announced. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Ubisoft is offering free access to games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Child of Light, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint on multiple platforms for varying periods of time.

“For those in need of some fun and new ways to stay occupied, we’ve put together a list of currently free games that can hopefully play even a small part in bringing you some virtual comfort, escape, and togetherness right now,” Ubisoft said.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available for free from March 19 through March 22. Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be available for free on Xbox One, PS4, and PC (via Uplay) starting next weekend from March 27 through March 29. Child of Light will go up for free from March 24 through March 28.

With the exponential global spread of the coronavirus pandemic, businesses around the world are asking workers to work from home. The stark rise in remote living has spurred a trend of companies offering their services either at a discount or free of charge. Some examples: Uber is waiving delivery fees for its Uber Eats service, video streaming services are offering longer free trials, and the New York Times is providing free access to top news updates concerning the global outbreak. Ubisoft seems to be following suit with these offers. Rabbids Coding, an educational game for teaching children how to code, is also currently available for free on PC via Uplay.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is Ubisoft’s latest entry in the series. In our review, we called it “the most beautiful looking/Assassin’s Creed/game, with the lush regions of ancient Greece rendered with loving care.” Ghost Recon Breakpoint is Ubisoft’s followup to Wildlands. Our review was lukewarm on the game but commended it for its stealth combat. Our review of Child of Light is a glowing one, but as we said when it was first released in 2014, “the less you know about the plot, the more fun it is.”
