Bloodborne Kart Faces Name Change and Delay Due After Warning from Sony

Sony Says 'Change Your Answers a Little Bit'

Bloodborne Kart Will Sadly Need To Undergo Re-Branding Creator Says

Bloodborne Kart (unofficial) has been under development for approximately six years, and Developer Lilith Walther has informed fans that Sony has asked development to “scrub the branding off” of the project.

There are two types of PlayStation licenses. Mega-popular IPs like The Last of Us receive new support in one way or another seemingly every quarter, as do licenses like Bloodborne, which Sony has remained completely silent about since its launch in 2015.

Developer Lilith Walther has taken matters into her own hands by developing BloodBornePSX, a demake of the 2015 FromSoftware title that looks like it was developed adjacent to Kalisto Entertainment’s Nightmare Creatures in 1997. This is where the idea of Bloodborne Kart came from. A meme that “spun out of control” in 2017 after the completion of BloodbornePSX, and turned into a real kart racer with 12 playable characters, 16 maps based on Bloodborne‘s Yharnum (and its biomes), full single-player campaign mode, split-screen multiplayer and a VS Battle mode.

While development was scheduled to wrap on January 31, Lilith Walther took to YouTube to reveal Sony asked them to scrub their branding off the Bloodborne Kart project five days before launch on January 26. The video can be seen below as well.

The video aims to make a “long story short” and details the changes that need to be made in the briefest way possible. The statement says, “We need to scrub the branding off of what was previously known as Bloodborne Kart We will do this, but that requires a short delay. Don’t worry, the game is still coming out!” followed by “We will let you all know ASAP when we do[have a release date]! We were honestly expecting something like this to happen and the idea of having full creative control is kind of exciting!” in a statement regarding Bloodborne Kart development progress.

While the initially planned release date of January 31 has been officially pushed back, fans can head over to the official developer’s X (formerly Twitter) account to stay in the loop for when a new release date is announced.
