A Steamy Bridgerton Season 3 Trailer Has Dropped To Edge Fans Closer to May

Tension That Could Be Cut With a Knife

A Steamy Bridgerton Season 3 Trailer Has Dropped To Prep Fans For May

Everyone’s favourite 19th-century-based Gossip Girl, Bridgerton, is returning for an exciting Season 3 in May, but before that, a new trailer has been released teasing Penelope’s plans for the season.

Bridgerton Season 3 seems to continue putting pressure on its audience in more ways than one, with the release of a new season 3 trailer highlighting the objects of affection for the ‘Ton. Penelope Featherington claims “I cannot live at home any longer, I must take a husband” in the trailer, which builds upon the tension that started previously between her and her friend Colin Bridgerton. A friendship that is one-sided (from the audience’s POV) considering Penelope has an unrequited crush on him, the trailer briefly explores their connection (and the tension it causes) and can be seen below.

The trailer starts fast and doesn’t take its foot off the gas. Bridgerton‘s very own Lady Whistledown starts by narrating, “Dearest Gentle Reader, We have been apart for far too long…” The power dynamic between ‘friends’ Colin and Penelope is explored further as Colin offers his help to find her a husband. As Colin introduces her to potential suitors, Penelope shows an awkward inability to engage in social agricultural plowing due to her still being on the hook for Colin. The trailer continues by introducing a new plot foil, Lord Debling (played by Sam Phillips), who inadvertently shows Colin that he may care for Penelope as a lot more than a friend by showing intense interest as a suitor.

Nicola Coughlan (who plays Penelope on Bridgerton) told People, “I always look at the three seasons like this: I think Season 1 was about passion, Season 2 was about longing and Season 3, I think it’s romance all the way.” So, it seems Bridgerton may be catering to a happily ever after this season and all of the pain and anguish that comes with it.

Bridgerton Season 3 lands exclusively on Netflix on May 14.
