Activision has officially released the reveal trailer for the upcoming sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with a focus on the game’s narrative and cinematics.
Players anticipating the title will be able to experience how Task Force 141 became the “iconic and legendary squad” that we know them as. The game’s single-player campaign will have a variety of missions across Europe, Asia and the Americas featuring both familiar heroes and new allies. Players will be able to team up with their trusted second player of choice in Special Ops, a tactical co-op mode that will advance team-building skills.
While we didn’t get a look at actual gameplay, it won’t be too long of a wait as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gameplay debut is scheduled for tomorrow. Specifically during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest event with a “first look at the campaign in action with a level play-through.” The single-player mode is set to feature “offshore sieges with underwater combat, all-out explosive assaults from 30,000 feet above enemy strongholds, and high-stakes, low-profile stealth missions. “
As for the game’s multiplayer mode, players will be able to dive into it on launch day by trying out and levelling up a bevy of base weapons while exploring many of the game’s maps and modes alongside a cast of operators. Activision adds that they already have a post-release plan for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 including free post-launch content drops like new maps, modes, and “blockbuster special events.”
Not too long after the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Activision will launch the next iteration of the series’ battle royale zone with Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 which is set to feature content from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Thanks to fan feedback on Warzone, the new version of the multiplayer-only game will come with new technology, new features, and new gameplay that work seamlessly together.
