Call of Duty Meets The Walking Dead In Upcoming Season

Rick Grimes Enters the Warzone

Call of Duty Meets The Walking Dead In Latest Season

Call of Duty is preparing to unleash hordes of the undead onto Verdansk once again. Today, Activision released a bone-chilling trailer confirming that Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 2 will feature a crossover event with The Walking Dead.

Season 2 kicks off on February 7th, and the promo art depicts none other than Rick Grimes staring down the barrel of a sniper rifle. His iconic sheriff’s hat leaves no doubt that players can expect to see the legendary walker-slayer arrive as a playable operator. The trailer released today hints at who you should expect this season, with The Walking Dead title sequence made in the game engine giving a glimpse of no other than Michonne making an appearance when the new season goes live.

The trailer itself shows the fan-favourite Fortune’s Keep map overrun by zombies. While details remain scarce, it’s likely that a limited-time mode or event will pit operators against hordes of AI-controlled undead in a fight for survival.

This crossover seems timed to coincide with the February 25th premiere of The Walking Dead spinoff series The Ones Who Live, focused on the continuing adventures of Rick and Michonne. Season 2 looks to build on Call of Duty’s recent success partnering with popular entertainment franchises. Just last month, the game celebrated a collaboration with Amazon’s The Boys that added Butcher and other characters from the show.

While zombies shamble to Verdansk, Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer is also getting a substantial injection of new content. Highlights include four new maps, the return of the Grind mode, new weapons like the ISO Hemlock assault rifle, and balance changes. Warzone players can look forward to the long-awaited introduction of vehicles with the arrival of the BMC Light Tactical All-Terrain Vehicle.
